Additional HandyAvi Information

If you are already a licensed user, your license will work automatically with new versions.  You should download and install the current version to have access to all of the improvements and new features.

If you are not yet a licensed user, download the latest version and try it.  The 10-day trial period is reset to 10 days whenever we put out a new release!

NOTE:  The "trial version" is the actual HandyAvi Deluxe version.  There is no other download necessary.  This trial version will allow you to see and use ALL features of the HandyAvi Deluxe Edition until the trial period expires. After you purchase a license, simply run HandyAvi and install the registration key (license) using the Help menu item "Install Registration Key".

If you purchased one of the "non-deluxe" versions (Time lapse Edition, Surveillance Edition, Astronomy Edition, or Animation Edition), you will be delivered a license key that will restrict HandyAvi to the features of the version you purchased.

If you download and install HandyAvi then you will have access to its built-in help file.  Or you can View the HandyAvi PDF documentation.

Note:  HandyAvi will handle most types of AVI files without requiring "Microsoft® DirectX®."

"Microsoft® DirectX®" is a set of low-level application programming interfaces (APIs) for creating games and other high-performance multimedia applications."

For best results however, DirectX 8.0 or higher should be installed on your machine. Normally it will already have been installed on your machine.

The current version of "Microsoft® DirectX®" can be installed simply by using the Start button, selecting "Windows Update", allowing it to scan your system, then installing the current version of DirectX.  (It will not be listed if you are already running the current version of DirectX.)

To use the Batch Processing feature of HandyAvi, your machine will need to have the "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0" installed.  If it is not already installed on your machine, it can be located on Microsoft's web site.  You will need to download and install the ".NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package" which, at the time of this writing, was called "dotnetfx.exe".  You will need the one that matches your system, x86 in most cases.  NOTE:  This is only needed for the batch processing mode.  All other features of HandyAvi do not need .NET Framework Version 2.0 and will work properly without it.

32-bit applications versus 64-bit applications:  Microsoft operating systems, when first installed, give you a choice of being either a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system.  A 32-bit application will run on either a 32-bit or a 64-bit operating system.  A 32-bit application such as HandyAvi running on a 64-bit operating system cannot "see" 64-bit drivers for video devices (webcams, USB/Video adapters, etc.)  Most video device installers now install both 64-bit and 32-bit DirectShow Drivers so your video capture device should be visible in our pull-down Capture Device lists.

NOTE:  the 32-bit version of HandyAvi running on a 64-bit operating system CAN "see" our 32-bit IP Camera Filter.  Works fine...
